A beautiful dashboard nobody acts on is a wasted investment. The gap between data and decision is where most analytics projects quietly fail.
Start from the decision, work backwards
Don’t ask “what can we measure?” Ask “what decision are we trying to make, and what would change our mind?” Build the view around that, and the noise falls away.
Design for action, not admiration
Every chart should imply a next step. If a number can’t change a behaviour, it’s decoration. Highlight the few signals that matter and make the call-to-action obvious.
Close that loop and your data products stop being reports people look at, and start being tools people use.
